Libra Equinox 2026: The Balance We Can Feel ⚖️

Sep 16, 2026

September equinox meaning, simple rituals, and a guided chakra balancing meditation

The September equinox arrives Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:05 p.m. Pacific / 8:05 p.m. Eastern. At that same moment, it will be September 23 at 00:05 UTC. It begins autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. Day and night are close in length, offering a moment to notice where our energy is going—and what helps us feel whole. Check the time where you live.

What Libra’s Scales Showed Me

For the past five months, I’ve held space for 15 incredible leaders in The Facilitator’s Path™. I’ve shared my secret sauce for guiding a room, caring for the people in it, and helping them trust their own wisdom.

Right after the equinox, this sacred group graduates. Even writing that makes my heart swell.

I know how I show up when I love something. I pour my body, heart, and Soul into it. Just ask Naia Moon, my sweet pup. I can be a little extra. 😉

I love being wholeheartedly in. I love what this group has created. And I can feel what these five months have asked of me.

My body and my relationships have felt the imbalance. They need more of my time and care. I’m ready to give that same wholehearted attention to the life that holds my work.

That’s what Libra’s scales brought into view for me. Both sides belong to my life.

A full heart also needs room to receive.

When I feel this imbalance, I begin with my chakras. I sit down, bring my attention back into my body, and move through my energy centers. It’s as if the rest of me finally exhales. I can feel what needs care and remember what wholeness feels like.

That’s why I wanted to share my Libra Equinox Chakra Balancing Meditation with you.

What Does the September Equinox Mean?

An equinox happens when the Sun crosses the celestial equator. In September, it crosses southward. The name comes from the idea of an “equal night,” although day and night are usually close in length rather than exactly equal. In 2026, the moment falls on September 22 in the United States and September 23 in UTC. Here’s the astronomy and timing.

We can also meet this seasonal turn as a spiritual check-in:

What have I given my energy to? What has nourished me in return? What do I want to carry into the season ahead?

For me, the answer holds two truths. I’m proud of what our group has created. I’m also ready to tend the parts of my life that supported me while I created it.

Your answers may look entirely different. The value of this moment is in listening for what’s true for you.

Libra Season: Giving, Receiving, and Honest Choices

In Western tropical astrology, the Sun enters Libra at the September equinox. Libra’s symbol is the scales. We often connect them with fairness and relationships, but I also see a question about our daily energy: How much are we giving, and how much room are we making to receive?

That question can be surprisingly practical!

When I place these five months of work on one side of the scales, I can see what belongs on the other: time with Naia Moon, food that nourishes me, rest, and attention for the people I love. My care for this work is real. So is my need to care for the person doing it.

Sometimes my body knows the next choice before my mind has words for it. That quiet knowing is part of what I mean when I call intuition our first language of energy.

The Old Story in Libra’s Stars

People have watched the turning seasons for thousands of years. In places shaped by a fall harvest, this time of year has meant gathering food, sharing it, and preparing for the months ahead. Seasonal traditions vary across cultures. Today, some Pagans celebrate the autumn equinox as Mabon.

I explore that modern celebration and its harvest rituals in my Mabon meaning and rituals guide.

Libra carries an old sky story of its own. In earlier Greek descriptions, the stars we call Libra were seen as Scorpius’s claws. The Romans later pictured a separate constellation: the scales. The stars stayed in place while people began to see another shape and meaning in them. Read the constellation history from DarkSky.

I find that moving. Sometimes we need to look again at something familiar. I could see the work and the graduation ahead. Now I can see the care my body has been asking for alongside them.

How Might This Equinox Feel?

The changing season may bring a desire for rest, company, reflection, or a fresh rhythm. You may feel proud of what you’ve made. You may feel ready for more support. You may feel several things at once.

An equinox gives us a moment to notice our own experience. Try placing a hand on your heart or belly and asking:

Where has my energy been going? What would help me receive this season?

You can take that question into the meditation. Give your answer room to arrive in its own way.

Why Balance the Chakras at the Equinox?

Chakras are energy centers in spiritual traditions. In this meditation, we bring gentle attention to seven places in the body. We begin by imagining golden roots reaching into Mother Earth. From there, we move upward—from steadiness and emotion to personal power, love, expression, intuition, and spiritual connection.

Each center gives us a way to listen:

  • ♥️ Root: What helps me feel supported?

  • 🧡 Sacral: What feelings need room to move?

  • 💛 Solar plexus: What does my gut wisdom say?

  • 💚 Heart: Where can love move both outward and inward?

  • 🩵 Throat: What truth wants a voice?

  • 💙 Third eye: What do I sense when I become quiet?

  • 💜 Crown: How can I feel connected while staying here in my body?

Near the end, I guide Earth energy and the light of the Divine Central Sun together in our awareness. We rest. Then we draw our roots back in, feel our heart, and return gently to the day.

For me, this practice helps the rest of my being exhale. You get to notice what happens for you.

Three Simple Equinox Rituals

1. Begin with your roots. Put your feet on the floor. Imagine golden roots reaching down into Mother Earth, as we do in the meditation. Take a few breaths and ask, “Where have I been pouring my energy? What part of me is ready to receive?”

2. Meet the season outside. Notice the ground under your feet, the light, the air, and what’s changing around you. Give yourself a moment to arrive before heading into your next task.

3. Make one choice your body can feel. Eat something nourishing. Rest. Accept an offer of help. Spend time with someone you love. Let the choice be small enough to make today.

September 2026 Equinox Questions

Is the equinox September 22 or 23 in 2026?

Both dates are correct in different time zones. It occurs September 22 at 5:05 p.m. Pacific / 8:05 p.m. Eastern, which is September 23 at 00:05 UTC.

Are day and night exactly equal at the equinox?

They’re close, though usually not exactly equal. The equinox refers to the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator.

Do I have to meditate at the exact equinox time?

Choose a time that supports you. This practice is here for the equinox, Libra Season, and any day you want to tend your energy.

What if I’m new to chakras?

You can simply follow my voice. Notice your breath, imagine the roots, and bring your attention to each place as we go. Your experience is your own.

As these 15 influential leaders prepare to graduate, I’m honoring everything we’ve built together! I’m listening to my body, too. Both deserve a place on my scales.

If your life has been full, I hope this meditation gives you a place to begin. Let your roots reach down. Let yourself receive. And when you’re ready, notice the next honest choice that helps you feel whole.

And as always, I'm walking right alongside you…
